Dubai continues to accelerate its transition toward green mobility with the expansion of its electric vehicle (EV) charging infrastructure. As of the first half of 2025, the emirate now boasts over 1,270 EV charging points, serving more than 40,600 electric vehicles across its roads.
This milestone reflects Dubai’s growing commitment to sustainability and clean energy, aligned with its long-term strategies such as the Dubai Clean Energy Strategy 2050 and the Dubai Net Zero Carbon Emissions Strategy 2050. The rapid increase in EV adoption underscores the city’s push toward a cleaner, more sustainable future in transportation.
The charging network is part of the EV Green Charger initiative launched in 2014, which has steadily expanded to meet the increasing demand. The initiative includes a wide variety of charger types, such as ultra-fast, fast, public, and wall-box chargers, ensuring accessibility and convenience for all EV users.
To support further growth and improve the user experience, Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (Dewa) has partnered with Parkin, the city’s largest provider of paid public parking, to install charging stations at high-demand locations across the city. These efforts aim to make charging more convenient and accessible for daily commuters and EV owners.
Back in March 2025, Dewa’s network included around 740 charging points. The organization has since made significant progress and remains on track to reach its target of 1,000 stations by the end of the year. The current figure of over 1,270 charging points highlights the rapid expansion and the effectiveness of public-private collaboration in scaling up infrastructure.
Encouraging private sector participation, Dubai has introduced a comprehensive licensing system that enables businesses to develop and operate EV charging infrastructure across the emirate. This strategic approach not only stimulates investment but also ensures a diversified and competitive EV ecosystem.

On a broader scale, the UAE is targeting a major shift in its vehicle landscape, with an ambitious goal to have 50 percent of all vehicles on its roads powered by electricity or hybrid technology by 2050. Dubai’s proactive expansion of its EV charging network marks a crucial step toward realizing this vision and setting a regional benchmark in sustainable urban mobility.
